Overall objective/goal
Small-holder coffee farmers thrive by participating in the supply chain that is economically viable, socially responsible and environmentally sound by 2029.Producers and workers thrive by participating in supply chains that are economically profitable, socially responsible and environmentally sound.
Specific objectives
The project aims to empower 600,100 smallholder coffee farmers (101,500 direct and 498,600 indirect) with 30% women and 15% youth in Nandi, Kericho, Kisii, Nyamira, Bungoma, Transnzoia and Bomet Counties to thrive within an economically viable, socially responsible, and environmentally sound supply chain by 2029.
Expected outcomes
Pathway 1: Viable and resilient production systems
Outcome 1: Strengthened capacity of smallholder farmers for improved coffee productivity & quality.
Outcome 2: Increased adoption of climate resilient practices and diversification by coffee farmers.
Pathway 2: Inclusive service delivery
Outcome 1: An augmented input/service supply chain that offers solutions to coffee producers.
Outcome 2: Producers are capacitated and professionalized.
Pathway 3: Inclusive Market connections
Outcome 1: Strengthened market linkages & relationships with new and existing buyers.
Expected outputs
- In the coffee sector, 600,100 smallholders (101,500 direct and 498,600 indirect) report income improvement (of which 30% female and 15% youth) as a result of improved farm productivity, access to services and markets.
- The project aims to support and work with 4,810 MSMEs/service providers (760 direct and 4,050 indirect) to improve service delivery to smallholder farmers as well as market connectedness.
