Programme/Project Development Objective (PDO)

The programme covers a period of I year from July 2013 to July 2014 its supported by USIAD/FINTRAC


 It covers 4 counties namely; Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Trans Nzoia and Elgeyo Marakwet.


  •  The goal is to increase the productivity and incomes of smallholders and other actors along the value chain, thereby enhancing food security and improving nutritional status .
  • To increase the productivity of maize, horticultural crops (tomato and Irish potato) and milk production by at least 5% in one year.
  •  To increase the income of smallholders by 10% for each of the selected value chains .
  • To directly impact 15,200 smallholders by increasing their overall productivity and incomes .
  • To reach at least 9,000 farmers with new technologies or management practices as a result of the USAID-KAVES program.


 The beneficiary that is 15,200 Smallholder farmers in the project area will produce maize, milk, tomatoes and potatoes at commercial standard. Income improvement of at least 10% will be achieved.
