Programme Summary

The KENAFF Leadership Development Programme is a project aimed at building foundational leadership capacity for leaders at all levels within the Kenya National Farmers' Federation (KENAFF). The primary objective of the program is to equip KENAFF leaders with the essential skills, knowledge, and mindset required to effectively lead and drive positive change within the organization and the agricultural sector as a whole.

Recognizing the significance of strong leadership in the success of an organization, the program focuses on developing the leadership potential of KENAFF leaders. By investing in leadership development, KENAFF aims to strengthen its leadership pipeline and ensure that leaders at all levels possess the necessary competencies to address complex challenges, make informed decisions, and inspire others.The program encompasses a wide range of activities designed to build foundational leadership capacity.

These activities include workshops, seminars, training sessions, mentoring, and coaching. Through these interventions, leaders are exposed to various leadership competencies such as strategic thinking, effective communication, problem-solving, decision-making, collaboration, and emotional intelligence.

One of the key objectives of the program is to establish a shared leadership vision and values among KENAFF leaders. By fostering a collective understanding of the organization's purpose and core principles, leaders are able to align their actions and decisions towards a common goal. This shared vision enhances cohesion, teamwork, and effective collaboration among leaders at different levels within KENAFF.

Objectives

  • Build foundational leadership capacity:The program aims to develop the essential leadership skills, knowledge, and mindset of leaders at all levels within KENAFF.
  • Foster a shared leadership vision and values:The program aims to establish a collective understanding and alignment around the organization's vision, mission, and values among KENAFF leaders.
  • Enhance leadership effectiveness:The program focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of KENAFF leaders.
  • Promote ethical leadership practices:The program emphasizes the importance of ethical leadership. Leaders are encouraged to uphold principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability in their roles.
  • Encourage continuous learning and self-improvement:The program recognizes that leadership development is an ongoing process. Leaders are encouraged to engage in continuous learning, self-reflection, and professional growth
  • Strengthen leadership pipeline: The program aims to strengthen the leadership pipeline within KENAFF.

Key capacity building areas: leadership and governance; strategic planning; communication (written, spoken, presentation); negotiation styles & skills; conflict management; lobby and advocacy process; policy development process (national and sub national); resource mobilization; evaluation and progress assessment; partnerships building, collaborations and effective networking; finance management and accountability; media engagement & public affairs; mobilization and organization; technical writing; enterprise and value chains development.
