The Kenya National Farmers’ Federation (KENAFF) is thrilled to announce that Nairobi will serve as the global capital for agriculture this June. Kenya has been officially selected to host the World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) General Assembly (GA) from June 8th to 11th, 2026, at the Safari Park Hotel.
This landmark event was the focus of a major media briefing held on April 28th, where KENAFF leadership, alongside industry partners, detailed how this summit will catalyze a new era for Kenyan and African agriculture.
Media Highlights: What the Press is Saying
The briefing sparked nationwide conversation, with major media houses highlighting different strategic angles of the upcoming assembly:
- The Star emphasized Kenya’s growing influence, noting that this is only the fourth time the assembly has been held in Africa and the very first time in Kenya. They quoted our CEO, Dr. Daniel Mwendah M’Mailutha, on the event being a “significant milestone” that will ensure “no farmer is left behind.”
- Capital FM focused on the technological revolution, reporting that “Emerging agricultural technologies will take center stage.” They highlighted the creation of a “marketplace” where Kenyan agritech firms can present digital tools and sustainable production systems to over 1,000 global delegates.
- Citizen Digital (via The Standard/The Online Kenyan) spotlighted the thematic focus on Climate Change and Artificial Intelligence, highlighting KENAFF’s efforts through platforms like Sauti ya Kilimo to promote digital and sustainable agriculture.
A Strategic Spotlight on the Kenyan Farmer
Hosting the WFO General Assembly is more than a diplomatic honor; it is a strategic victory. By bringing the world’s agricultural decision-makers to Nairobi, KENAFF is ensuring that the unique challenges and innovations of the Kenyan farmer are at the forefront of the global agenda.
The summit provides a direct stage for us to showcase our progress in climate-smart agriculture and our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chairman, Hon. L. Nduati Kariuki, noted that this event will position the country as a “strategic hub for agriculture on the global stage.”
The Digital Frontier: Tech as the Headline
In an era where climate unpredictability is the “new normal,” KENAFF is championing digital solutions as the ultimate tool for resilience. The General Assembly will feature deep dives into:
- Precision Agriculture: Using data to help smallholder farmers maximize yields.
- Digital Finance: Breaking barriers to credit and insurance through mobile-first innovations.
- Inclusive Development: Targeted initiatives for youth, women, and special interest groups.
Our Unified Vision: From Thogoto to the World
During the briefing, KENAFF National Chairman Prof. Kaburu M’Ribu emphasized that this meeting aligns with the national economic transformation agenda. As we prepare to welcome delegates from about 90 countries, we carry the voices of farmers from all 47 counties.
“Our strength lies in our numbers and our voice. Today, we made sure that voice was heard in every corner of the nation, from the small-scale shamba to the halls of Parliament.”
