Kenya Agricultural Value Chain Enterprises (KAVES) Project

The programme covers a period of I year from July 2013 to July 2014 its supported by USIAD/FINTRAC

Scope

It covers 4 counties namely; Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Trans Nzoia and Elgeyo Marakwet.

Objective

The goal is to increase the productivity and incomes of smallholders and other actors along the value chain, thereby enhancing food security and improving nutritional status

  • To increase the productivity of maize, horticultural crops (tomato and Irish potato) and milk production by at least 5% in one year
  • To increase the income of smallholders by 10% for each of the selected value chains
  • To directly impact 15,200 smallholders by increasing their overall productivity and incomes
  • To reach at least 9,000 farmers with new technologies or management practices as a result of the USAID-KAVES program.

Out Put

The beneficiary that is 15,200 Smallholder farmers in the project area will produce maize, milk, tomatoes and potatoes at commercial standard. Income improvement of at least 10% will be achieved.
